I have mixed feelings about this place. Their dim sum is usually pretty good. Their dinner is usually not so good. The restaurant is pretty cramped too.
Came for dinner tonight. Sun was coming through their side door very strongly. The glare was almost directly on grandpa. We asked them if they could do something about it, and were bluntly told there was nothing they could do. With a little effort, they could have gotten tape or something and taped newspaper up. It would have been better than nothing. Further on in the night, we asked if they had a particular dish (that we had ordered on a separate occasion) only to be told that they had never had this dish before. We checked with a different server, who not only confirmed that they had that dish on the menu, but that he could put in our order for it.
Had:
Corn and fish maw soup - pretty good. Decent amount of fish maw too.
Peking duck - 2 ways. 1) Peking duck wrap. 2) lettuce wrap. Peking duck crepes were quite thick. The duck skin was cut unevenly (some pieces being huge and some piece being slivers) and was the leanest I've seen in quite a while (or ever...) resulting in some very dry wraps. The cucumber looked like it'd been pre-cut (starting to shrivel) and the hoisin sauce tasted a tad off (almost like they had mixed in a bit of the fermented bean curd one puts on their lamb hot pot). Peking duck is usually a dish that clears pretty quickly (cuz everyone likes to eat it). Tonight was a good indicator of the quality of the duck. My mom and I both had a minimum of four pieces each because no one else was eating it. I ended up eating it because I did not want it to go to waste.
Stir fried snow pea shoots with garlic - fresh. Good portion.
Sweet and Sour pork - not a very big portion. Not a great ratio of meat to filler veggie. Needed a lot more meat.
Free run chicken - color was good. Texture was decent. No taste though.
Salty fish, chicken cube, tofu in hot pot - a tad too salty for everyone's tastes.
Broccoli with egg white and crab - not so much crab as shrimp. Very strong seafood smell (and not in a good way). Egg white was cooked decently. So was the broccoli.
Complimentary sweet soup: red bean. Nothing to say because I'm not a fan of red bean sweet soup, so it would have been wasted calories.
My suggestion: come for dim sum. Don't do dinner.
