  • I have a Mazda and was notified of some required recall repairs. I took my Mazda in to Earnhardt for the necessary repairs. Sherri was very pleasant and helpful. She even gave me a rental car to use while my car was being fixed. There was no charge for this and I was grateful. The day after bringing my freshly repaired Mazda home, the engine light came on. I brought it back to Earnhardt. Unfortunately, Sherri was no longer working at Mazda and Leann helped me. The mechanics looked at my car and asked that I do a $100 diagnostics on it, so I did and paid the fee. My car was misfiring, and I was told by Leann that my car needed spark plugs and (2 out of 4) fuel injectors. My cost for repairs was going to be roughly $2500. They gave me the song and dance about their warranty and the Mazda factory parts. I felt like it was a lot of money, so I called my very honest mechanic who I have been using for 30+ years and who has always taken care of me and my cars so well. His "over the phone " price quote was $1500, which Mazda wanted to try to match but in the end said NO. I felt pressured by Leann who told me that there was no way my mechanic was purchasing real Mazda factory parts, that he couldnt possibly warranty the parts, etc, etc... After feeling totally pressured into only using Earnhardt, I opted to definitely NOT use them. Anytime someone gives me the hard sell, I dont trust them. I drove straight to my mechanic who had ordered parts from the Mazda dealer and showed them to me. I was fine with paying the $1500 for the repairs with my honest and trustworthy mechanic. Ironically, when he ran the diagnostics and looked at my car, he SHOWED me that Earhardt Mazda not only gave me faulty diagnostic information, but that my fuel injectors were fine, but that they FAILED to check the air filter which was filthy and clogged. (My bad!). He explained that this filthy air filter would be a cause for misfiring and faulty diagnostic readout and was a VERY SIMPLE check. Thankfully, I used my mechanic for the spark plug and air filter replacement to save me thousands of dollars!
