  • As they often say during Pete Tong's show, "Fabulous, fabulous!" Friday Night Live @The ROM belongs in the fun superlatives category. EDM+ good food+ libations= nice twist to attract a newer and younger clientele (at a time they normally wouldn't be caught wandering about in a museum). This formula worked on me! I had never been to the ROM before and ended up spending a good 2 hrs here, learning about lands faraway, and times long begone while all the time head bopping surreptitiously or discreetly fist bumping! The main foyer, was transformed into a big meeting place with candle lit tables, delicious food and thumping music. I was very impressed at how quickly, even in the dim lighting, staff spotted and pounced on plates and napkins: very efficient. The food tipped its hat to the exciting foodie scene in TO: Fidel Gastro's was there as were Jamie Kennedy's sons! There was a room on the second floor with rich sampling of microbrews, which unfortunately i didn't get to try out. Each floor has small speakers pumping out music, was live jazz in the minerals room. The museum staff on each floor were exceptionally helpful, informative and engaging. Too bad they were on duty on a Friday night. I was also impressed that the ROM sent out a survey the following Monday asking for feedback. There were a few not-so-major issues that I hope the ROM will fix, but all-in-all, this is a very fun and unique event which I hope to attend again before it wraps up this fall.
