| - People of Suburban are usually efficient and time punctual. But this one experience put me off so bad that I will never ride it again. Yesterday, I was supposed to ride Suburban from Champaign to O'hare. All the dorms and services were closed on campus so it was not possible to print the ticket out, all I had was a copy of the ticket on my ipod and laptop. So I was told by the person who was putting the luggage inside that there was no way I would be able to get onto the bus without a physical ticket. I have nothing to complain about the refusal, as ultimately it is my responsibility to get this ticket. But the way I was told so was very harsh and I found the conduct of the person very objectionable.
From the start he was acting in a belligerent manner. After he refused my request, he told me to go and ask the driver and I did that. The driver told me that if not for his boss, who was the luggage man, he would let me in. So the driver asked me to request him again, so I did that. And then the luggage man shouts at me 'STOP WASTING TIME, you are not getting on the bus'. I just stood shocked.
Then this asian girl comes by with the same scenario as mine. The luggage man first put the luggage inside, but on knowing that she didn't have a physical ticket he rushed down and promptly chucked her baggage out. She was pleading to him, but all he was doing was being very very rude. So she heads to the driver hoping that he would help her out, but the luggage man blocks off her access to the bus and shouts at her "GET OFF the bus." The girl requests him one more time and he shouts, "WHAT THE HELL! Stop asking me, you won't get on the bus." I was flabbergasted with this guy's conduct.
I have been a customer of suburban a few times before. It was cost effective and I had no real problems. But this experience has put me off so bad that I am never going to ride Suburban again. I don't care if that man was the manager of Suburban or even the mayor of Champaign. No one deserves to be spoken to in such an insulting and demeaning manner. That man had no right to vent his frustrations on me or anyone else.
I called Suburban up to complain and they said they would document my complaint. But they dont have any details what so ever. They didn't ask me for my name, bus details, or phone number, nothing!! It really showed how much they cared for customer satisfaction. I'll resort to Amtrak, Greyhound or a taxi next time, since I'm not a fan of LEX either. I'd rather spend the extra cash and not get shouted upon. Rather than indulge in that trashy smear campaign about LEX, Suburban should pull their own strings together.
