| - Came here after an appointment with our lawyer downtown, and my husband and I really loved it. Mind you, the only thing I have to compare this to is a few meals at Porto's when I lived in the Los Angeles area, and a meal 10 years ago in Fort Lauderdale that I barely remember. So we aren't exactly experts on Cuban food.
We ordered the croquetas, which were a fried ham stuffing thingy that was very good. The bread was grilled with butter and was heavy but very tasty. I had the camarones al ajillo, which is just shrimp cooked in olive oil, garlic, and white wine. It was very good but they overcooked the shrimp a little. My husband had the boliche mechado, which was a braised beef stuffed with chorizo. He really loved it, thought the flavors were outrageous. I thought it was pretty heavy for lunch, but we had a restaurant.com certificate and needed to spend $35.
Although the neighborhood is god-awful, and we might not go out of our way to go here, we'll definitely come back here, or try their sister restaurant that is closer to our house.
