| - I hate to be a massive buzzkill, but Collision Bend Brewing did not live up to my expectations. I went there expecting a decent brewery with food that is a step up from normal brewery fare. Unfortunately, I was disappointed.
The positives -- Great space. Truly beautiful, loved the details. Well done! Service... was friendly and attentive (but at times a bit too odd... more on that later). Hostess was super nice and the busboy's were on point. I think the beer was good. I would not say great, and I would not say poor. I would say extremely drinkable and appealing to a wide audience. I had no problem finishing any of the taster's that I ordered, which can sometimes be a problem for a new brewery..... so well done to the brewer, and it will only improve over time as he gets more comfortable with his system.
The not so positives - The Food. I was expecting to be blown away. Unfortunately, all dishes did not work on execution. We ordered two pizzas. The Pepperoni pizza was a wet, moist, sloppy mess of a pizza. My son could not pick it up and eat it with his hands, it was just too sloppy and wet. Too much red sauce and the mozzerella was way too wet. It was not well liked by my 10 year old. The Margherita pizza was not as wet because it lacked the sauce, but was still on the wet side. They need to take a look at the pizzas. My husband and I shared four small plates. We had the Lamb Ribs, brussel sprouts, kraut balls and jerk chicken taco. In order of best to worst I would say the Brussel sprouts, then the kraut balls, then the taco and lamb ribs tied for worst. Lamb Ribs were hard to eat, messy and not that good. Liked the pickled veggies that went with and the sauce, but the lamb itself was not good at all. The Jerk Chicken taco was just a hot mess. I could not discern any flavor whatsoever. It all just tasted dry... which is an odd sensation when eating a taco full of sloppy, wet ingredients. It was largely uneaten. Kraut balls were ok, but nothing special or remarkable. Brussels sprouts are hard to mess up, and those served us well. Those are the only thing I would order again. The service was attentive, yes... but at times TOO attentive and just a little, tiny bit creepy. Probably just a waiter trying a bit too hard, not a comment on their overall service.
Unfortunately we were disappointed. I will chalk it up to them just starting out and us coming on a Sunday, when the main chef staff could be off for the day. We will certainly be back for a beer on the patio, but I would skip food for sure until I was sure it was executed properly.
