  • I had surgery done at the wonderful Albuquerque location by the fantastic Dr. January. He was wonderful, comforting, professional, and got my astigmatic 20/200 eyes down to 20/15. I bought the wavefront, and I didn't know it was possible to see so much depth and contrast, it's not just about focus. I never had to wait more than a few minutes in Albuquerque and the staff there is friendly and pleasant. I had to have my final postop exam here in Phoenix due to a temporary move. This is a ten minute exam. When I scheduled the exam I let the woman on the phone know that I was an Albuquerque patient, and she said she would get my records from them right away. When I arrived for my appointment, they did not have my records and acted upset with *me* that I didn't have them. Everyone at the front desk was brusque and unfriendly. I sat in the waiting room for an HOUR. I went to the desk at about 45 minutes and asked if there was a problem, I was rudely rebuffed. At an hour I asked how much longer and was told "I don't know". I had to insist that I needed to know before the extremely rude, unfriendly woman at the desk would even check. She and two other women stood talking in the hallway for about five minutes, looking at me frequently, then I was told another 20 minutes or so. I drove an hour to get to this appointment with two small children in tow (which should not be a problem for a ten minute checkup). I couldn't wait any longer and had to reschedule. The staff implied that it was my fault that I was asked to wait 90 minutes for a brief checkup, because I had scheduled an appointment for a postop day. Nobody told me that, I took the appointment that they offered. When I stated that a doctor's office should see patients around the patients appointment time, they were very huffy and stated that it was impossible for patients to be seen at "exactly" their appointment time. When I pointed out that we were talking about 90 minutes, not 9, they just looked at me like I was crazy. During this exchange a couple of other patients in the waiting room nodded at me when I looked around the room. Dr. January is great, but if I had to see him at this office, I would chose another surgeon.
