  • After getting gouged twice by PetCo for a dog haircut, we decided to look elsewhere. We were pretty happy with the results of our first experience with the Brooklyn Pet Supplies Plus location, but they were booked up, and Butters needed a haircut badly...so we went here. Prior to our appointment, I called here and kept getting the answering machine that said they were "busy with other customers." Well, when I walked in, I didn't see one four-legged or two-legged customer in sight. The only thing I saw was a groomer on the phone who was busy updating someone on the other end about the drama in their life. Was she on the phone when I called earlier? Who knows. Let's just say that her attitude didn't inspire much confidence in her ability to take care of my pup. At least they were fast, and they did a good job of cutting my dog's hair too. I'm really pleased with it and everyone loves it. However, they didn't do a good job of keeping my dog in the store. When I went to pick him up, he was excited and he almost jumped over the gate. Keep in mind that my dog is small--he's not a Great Dane who can leap over a gate without breaking a doggy sweat. They put the leash on him, but they weren't careful and they put it on a temporary loop which promptly broke and my dog raced out of the grooming salon (whose door should have been rigged to automatically swing shut and raced to the front of the store. Of course, when he got to the door, it automatically opened because the machine thought there was a person there, and he ran right into the parking lot. Fortunately, the employees eventually corralled him. When they gave him back to me, the grooming salon employee acted like it was my fault that he ran away. Nor did they offer me a discount. I've gotten discounts from places for far less grievous wrongs. Heck, I got a discount the other day at Arby's without even asking! I'm a big stickler for customer service, and between the phone issues and the dog safety issues I was majorly rubbed the wrong way with this place. While I was very pleased with the haircut, I wasn't pleased with anything else, and I don't think I'll be back.
