This is by far the worst car rental experience I have ever had. I wish I would have gotten the name of the customer service rep who was helping me out, the time of my visit was 4:58 on 4/1/17. He was an older black gentleman who clearly hates his job, hates women, and has ZERO customer service skills. My friends and I picked up a small compact Ford Fiesta at the John Wayne Airport on Friday night. We started driving it to Arizona on Saturday morning. The car's center console did not work: the Bluetooth, the USB input, the radio, all of it. Because we had to be on the road we figured we'd try to fix it on the way. It was not something we were able to fix, so we called the location we picked it up. They told us to call any nearby AVIS location and they would trade our car. We called SIX locations in the Tempe AZ area. They ALL gave us the run around, because I'm guessing they didn't want to trade a vehicle with limited capabilities for a fully functioning one. All the locations kept referring us to the airport location because they apparently had the most availability. When we got there the car drop off staff were GREAT. The gentleman in the kiosk however needs to pick a different job. He was condescending and told us how "sad" our story was because the Bluetooth didn't work. And then continued to mock us about our "2 car upgrade" from the smallest car they carried. When we told him we'd gladly take anything he had, he said he could give us a bicycle if we really didn't care. If i hadn't been in such a good mood, I would've argued back with the man who is clearly one sad individual to be picking arguments with customers. I hope his time working there gets better and that no one ever has to deal with him. I am only giving the review one star because they actually traded the car after the guy made us feel like shit. I will never give my business to AVIS again.
