Review #300. For my milestone review, the 300th of the year, I review a fun place for soul food. This family owned place serves up fine viddles. Be afore warned, though soul food might have had humble origins, but these flavors are fine and be prepared to pay for it, too. Thanks to my Yelping friends, especially Norm R., I chose the fried pork chop meal. The breading was crispy and delicious. The meal came with 2 good sized chops and 2 sides. I was struggling with which to choose. I decided on the cabbage and the candied yams. I was lamented over wanting to try the red beans and rice, and my wonderful server brought me a tasting of red beans and rice. The cabbage was okay, but the candied yams had lovely texture and flavor. The red beans and rice were AMAZING. I could have just made a meal of a bowl of that with their sweet corn bread. I enjoyed a tall glass of southern sweet tea. My meal came out around $18 including tax and tip. I was transported back to my haunts in Birmingham, Alabama. I can't wait to come back to try the fried chicken and get me some more of that red beans and rice. Compliments to the chef!
