We tried to go to this place three different times and the fourth time was the charm. Two times were on weekends, and you'll need a reservation. This place gets packed. The other time was between semesters and they were closed. Finally, we had a weekday afternoon off and decided that we should go! There weren't many people there on a random Wednesday afternoon.
Now, with all the hype and needing reservations, we assumed this place would be stellar. It's really just ok.
There were only about 10 beers on tap. One of them was the Duchesse de Bourgogne ($10!), which is a bit hard to find on tap. However, the rest of the beers weren't that special, and only one of them was dark. The rest were IPA/pale ale/hoppy stuff.
I had the 2-cheese Appleton sandwich. Sadly, there wasn't enough cheese or apples in it. The sweet potato fries were $2 extra and plentiful. I got the chipotle ranch dip, which was delicious. Luckily I had that to dip my extra bread in from my sandwich. My partner ordered the pork sandwich with pineapple salsa. He gave it 3.5 stars, he liked the combination of the pork with the fruit. He was given a generous amount of kettle chips.
Service was great. Attentive and friendly.
Worth a reservation and fighting others to find an open bar stool? No. Worth a Wednesday afternoon trip? Sure.
