| - My fiancé had a serious toe dislocation on 9/26/16, and was seen at spring valley hospital. After evaluating, and resetting his toe, we were discharged and referred to Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine on W. Warm Springs.
After check in, we were called back to the room. I had called to schedule the appointment, and asked for the total charges that would be due at time of check in (as we did not have insurance.)
Once in the room, the nurse asked why we were here? And asked if we needed any X-rays?? (Isn't it their job to keep up with charts and have patient knowledge??)
Then I explained to her that we were not charged
For the X-ray, which was needed and I was quoted for over the phone. And she had to check with several people regarding our bill, and then have us just pay as we checked out.
Once we were in the room, the doctor came in, (Dr. Brady), and he soon found out he was in the wrong room, and with the wrong patient. (He came in looking for a female patient with a totally different injury.)
He came in, asked my fiancé his name, and what his injury was, after realizing he was in the wrong room. Asked if we already had X-rays done...- we had just been placed in the room a minute prior!
Then left.
Once he came back, he said "oh, you're 21? And you don't have insurance?!"
He stated that he didn't.
Then dr bady said "oh! So you're paying to come see me?!"
And that was a total insult, and so disrespectful in many ways.
Then, without even looking at the X-rays just taken, sitting on the counter, he said "you're fine. You can go back to work."
And he suggested that he buy "steel toed boots" or "black timberlands" to work in. And to just "walk on his heel."
He said "you're 21, you should be tough!" And slapped him on the knee.
Luckily, we got a doctors note to excuse him for a few more days. He cannot walk, is in constant pain, and was just made a fool by this doctor.
We paid $245 for an "exam" and $50 out of pocket, for X-rays he didn't even look at prior to his diagnosis, and for him to be so cruel as to tell him, for lack of better words, to "suck it up."
I have never seen such discriminatory, heartless, and rude treatment by a medical care provider.
Shame on this doctors office. I will never return, and will advice all of my friends/family to do so. It's very unorganized, nobody seems to know what the hell is going on, and the staff seems incompetent and lazy.
