  • Clean, Large, Lots of tellers, Likely the best rates in town. However, If you get into trouble financially, your pretty much screwed with these guys. I was a Third Federal customer for over 30 years. Paid off a 30 yr. mortgage in less than 8 years with them. I had a line of credit with my paid off house as collateral for my business and several years into it got into money troubles. The finance department would offer absolutely NO help. No suggestions except get your payments current or lose your house. A little empathy? Not a chance. The finance department in their defense I guess has many delinquent accounts and not much incentive to treat you like a long standing customer that wants to save their home. So they take a no mercy stance and your treated like a bum. They're just heartless. My house wound up in the foreclosure process thru them but ultimately I was able to sell enough possessions to get my payments current. This was no easy process and involved the county foreclosure courts and a VERY nice court moderator who slowed down the foreclosure process to afford me the time to sell off enough to become solvent and get out of foreclosure. I HAD the equity, it was just very difficult and time consuming to turn into cash. This is VERY scary stuff people, you tend to panic when your home starts spiraling down the toilet and your unsure of your next moves. My complaint isn't with the everyday bank itself. They're quite nice actually with many tellers that have been there forever. Truthfully, many of them aren't terribly friendly, but they do their jobs well so I guess that's enough to expect. This is just a warning that if you owe Third Federal money, and your late due to job loss or uninsured illness or any other problem that comes along in life, You better have a plan B as these guys will take your house and turn a blind eye to your problems if you don't. My disappointment is worse all in all, due to the length of my association with them and how I was treated when hardship occurred. Borrower beware
