  • Expected the worst case scenario but was pleasantly surprised. Arrived at 0745 on a Tuesday and there were already 100+ people in line. Door opened at 0755. Stood in line until 0835 and checked in at the information counter and gave my phone number. At 0845 the monitor called my number ( text arrived 2 mins later). Went to the designated widow and gave them everything they asked for. Processed two drivers licenses and two vehicle registrations all at once within 20 minutes. We were given our new license plates on the spot. Went to the photo line and both of us had our pictures taken within 5 minutes. Put the plates on my car and drove off with the entire process taking less than 90 minutes where most of my time was spent in line as they opened for business. What I learned... 1. Go online and navigate through the DMV website. All the information you need is there. Be prepared! 2. Print out any applications and complete ahead of time. 3. Print out a checklist from the website and attach everything they ask for and put it all in a folder. If you are missing any requested information don't get upset when they turn you away. They will not make any exceptions. A lot of people whine about how they do this but it's not about you, it's about the other 100+ people there that have their $?&! together and need to get on with their lives too. 4. Dash Pass is not always available. I don't know why so I can't comment on that. Get in line 30 minutes before they open. I was told Tuesday Wednesday or Thursday is best. 5. Once you check in don't go anywhere until you get a text on your phone. Mine said you have 12 mins, then 9 mins, then "you are next in line". I received all three texts at once (probably due to my phone connection) after my number was announced on the monitor and I was already completing my paperwork with the DMV employee. If I did not pay attention to the monitor then I would have been late. If you are within a few dozen people on the list I would not risk going anywhere since they move pretty quick. My text said there were 23 people ahead of me but I was called in under 10 mins Hope this helps. The only people that were having issues were the ones who were unprepared or expected to get the DMV to make exceptions to the rules for them. As far as comments on rude employees. I dealt with three employees and they were very terse and straight forward. They did their job professionally and efficiently and I appreciate that. Don't expect them to compliment your outfit and stroke your ego and engage in pointless and time consuming gibberish. That takes time, other people's time.
