| - Saturday night, we make an early res before a show, and we take our time at Halcyon. We order a few courses, some starter plates and a big entree, and we sip our drinks and enjoy the laid-back ambiance. And then I casually glance at my watch and almost have a stroke. Our entree is not even out of the kitchen and we realize we have drastically miss-planned, and our relaxed evening turns into a late-running nightmare; we don't have time for the entree! After a moment of real panic, we decide to ask our server if there's any possibility we can, um, not have the entree. Not his fault at all, service was excellent and attentive, we just ordered too many little courses and didn't realize we'd spent so much time jibber-jabbering and eating and enjoying ourselves and the food and now we don't have time for the entree! (We were mortified!) No problem, Chris thought fast and smartly rerouted our freshly cooked entree to a nearby table who had ordered the same thing, and we were out of there on time and made it to the show. Amazing service, on top of excellent food (fantastic cheese plate, superior scallops with pork belly, phenomenal spicy chocolate crème brule dessert), and no way we could tip Chris enough for the great move he made in response to our poor planning. Halcyon has been one of our favorite places in the city, and we plan to go much more often in the coming new year. Thanks, Chris!
