We have bought a couple of appliances from Spencers. The oven arrived with a broken glass top and you could see where something had damaged the cardboard box it came in. Another trip to the store and it was replaced.
The second appliance was a KitchenAid refrigerator - close to the top of the line. In the three years we have owned it we have suffered the following:
Two control boards failed. When service came out to replace them they told me there were six recalls on these boards yet they were not replaced before the unit was sold. Inexcusable!
The freezer condenser developed a leak due to a manufacturing defect and again, no proactive measures by either manufacturer or Spencers prior to sale.
Then the water valve cracked and a slow leak soaked our kitchen wall and damaged the wall, the cabinets and countertops to the tune of $20,000 which, fortunately was covered by insurance but the months of living out of carboard boxes and a spare refrigerator in the back room was not compensated or even acknowledged by Spensers. By this time I was thoroughly fed up with this piece of junk and requested a replacement but the Spencers sales manager refused.
But we are not done. On the third anniversary of our purchase the ice maker, never a big producer, has failed completely - two weeks after the extended warranty expired.
I have NEVER had a worse experience with an appliance or with a retail store in my life and have sworn NEVER to set foot in Spencers or buy anything from the manufacturer of KitchenAid again in my life. KitchenAid makes junk and does not stand behind their products. Spencers sells junk and also does not stand behind their sales. I am thoroughly disgusted with both.
