Thought I admire what the Humane Society is attempting to do, they fail on execution. Having been told by several members of the staff that it was ok to leave my info for adopting a dog that is currently being treated by their vet, I was then told that the adoption process is first come, first served. No time frame was given when the dog would be seen again by the vet, no clue when or where the dog would be able to be adopted (they regularly take dogs to other facilities). So, If I want the dog to become a part of my family I must check back each day and hope that nobody else was 'first'. I've inquired about the dog in person twice now, called several times, checked the website numerous times per day. Do they not want a guaranteed way of finding the dog a home? The process is ridiculous and my annual contribution to the Humane Society of Charlotte will now go elsewhere. Perhaps it will be used to do something useful.
