Embassy hotels are my preferred Hilton brand. I have stayed at several of them. I have come to expect clean rooms, modern furnishings, and complimentary breakfast/happy hour. This Embassy exceeded my expectations in some areas and fell short in others. Kudos for the view and ambiance! When I went outside of my room, I truly felt that I was on a vacation instead of a work trip. However, the rooms were subpar compared to the rooms of other Embassy hotels.
I was initially surprised by the layout of the hotel. After entering the lobby, you need to proceed to the double doors at the end in order to go to your room. Upon exiting the lobby, you come upon an outdoor atrium that seems to take you to the tropics. The pool and jacuzzi are at the center of this atrium. Complimentary breakfast is served in the building behind them. It's like a little piece of paradise.
There are elevators and stairs at the four corners of the atrium. Happy hour is at the Squaw Peak Cafe on the fifth floor which can only be accessed by the two stairs/elevators at the end of the property. When you have a moment, I recommend taking a moment to relax on the 5th floor balcony during happy hour. The view is gorgeous, especially at sunset. Just sit back and relax!
My room was relatively clean although I found that it was not cleaned from "top to bottom". Originally I mistook a small miscellaneous piece of something in the corner as a bug. The furniture in my room was a little worn out and outdated compared to other Embassies. However, I was able to get a good nights rest which is what matters in the end.
