This review is based solely off my reuben experience - this rating could vary significantly with something more common from Owen's.
A bagel place offering a reuben is certainly an interesting option, and I was excited to continue my reuben adventure with this unique take on the classic sandwich. I wish I had tried something more common (although that wouldn't have worked well to continue my journey around Charlotte to try all of the reubens the city has to offer).
The reubagel, as I decided to call it, just didn't have a setup for success. A bagel is significantly thicker than any rye bread you're going to find, so I think it has to be overstuffed (NYC style) to really get the proper proportions. Sadly, this one was not. Each bite tasted like bagel with a little bit of meat and cheese mixed in. The middle ingredients were fairly common, with average corned beef, very little kraut, good swiss but lacking in quantity, and a russain dressing that was a little sweeter than what works for a reuben. The pumpernickel rye bagel was tasty, but that was too be expected from a bagel place. I don't recommend trying the reubagel as there are far better options on the menu.
