| - As someone who works in the travel industry, I really do hate the people who complain about the smallest things. But being that I do work in travel, I also have a higher expectation of how things should be. I will start off by saying that all staff were friendly and courteous. The location is great as well, only about a 5 minute drive to the strip. Great pricing.
I booked a 1 night stay for Valentine's Day in the Studio Suite. We got checked in and went to our room. The biggest disappointment of our entire trip was that our balcony was locked and they could not open it for "safety reasons. That was one of the bigger reasons as to why I booked the room. I would have gone elsewhere, solely for that reason, had I known it would be locked. I did not see a disclaimer anywhere on the website stating it would be closed.
Other minor things in the room were that most of the light fixtures had either missing lightbulbs or they were burnt out. The handles on the sink were broken. The radio was broken. And the handheld shower piece did not squirt out water. Lastly, I asked the front desk 3 times to lock the mini-fridge. They said they would but never did. They did offer to switch us to a different room, but by that point, we were unpacked and headed to dinner so I just asked them to replace the bulbs and offer us late check out, which they did. It felt like nobody even bothered cleaning the room, or nobody had been in there in a while, otherwise they would have noticed those things.
All in all, it was a mediocre experience. The Cosmopolitan was my second option and I would have definitely booked my stay with them had I known what I was getting myself into at the Palms. Like I said, the balcony was the biggest bummer and that put a little damper on things. It wasn't absolutely horrid, it was still clean and we had a place to sleep, but I was hoping for a better experience, especially being that it was Valentine's Day and I was trying to do something special for my partner.
