  • I am so lame. The most exciting thing to happen in my life recently was the grand opening of this new Fry's grocery store nearby this weekend. And after anxiously waiting for the past several months, the time had finally come. Yay! Well since you're all DYING to hear about it, here's the scoop. Ok, no lie - I've never seen any grocery store like this. It's a little like a cross between Whole Foods and Walmart, but they also sell regular everyday groceries. Not that weird crap you can only find at whole foods. In addition to groceries, they also sell clothes, linens, and have a full cosmetic section there with ladies who even apply makeup! It's basically a grocery store on steroids. But that's not all! They also have a salad bar and a sandwich shop. And get this - they even have a full sushi bar complete with sushi chefs where you can sit at the counter or a table and eat there. It's not a dinky little sushi station either. It's practically a restaurant. However, the most unique thing about this grocery store is they have an actual Wine and Beer Bar and a separate Cheese Bar too. So if you always thought that a nice glass of wine or craft beer would go great with your Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, well there you go. Hubby and I were joking about how you can literally go on a date there! Bring them for a nice sushi dinner then walk across the aisle to get them plastered on wine and cheese. Then before you leave, don't forget to stop at the Starbucks so you can sober up with a Venti latte. In fact, I think we are going to go there for our anniversary. The only thing they are missing is a day care. Who wants a bunch of whiny kids around when you are trying to enjoy your Cabernet and Belgian Gouda. I'm going to complain. No! I kid. With this fancy new store, you would expect the prices to be fancy too right? Well, I would compare the prices of their regular groceries to be on par with the neighboring Bashas, Safeway, and Albertsons - all of which are more expensive than Walmart. So if you want to save money, make sure to check the weekly ads to find the best deals. For most of my regular grocery shopping I'll probably stick to Walmart and go to this Fry's only to shop the specials, get my free Friday downloads, and to celebrate my birthday. I told you I was lame!
