| - oh, my goodness...Love yelp!! I read the reviews before going to this restaurant, and I am so glad I was prepared because everyone was right on. Let me start by saying that the quality of the food was very good, and truly that should be the important part right? The service however...ugh.
Husband and I came in Xmas Eve, dressed to the nines as we were going to a show that night...the hostess put us on a tiny crappy table stuck by a beverage cart and then she walked away without asking if it was ok...I don't like to make waves on a busy service night, so I didn't complain, but we had a reservation made over 10 days previous and it would have been nice to have a decent table when we were obviously dressed for a nice dinner. Our server was then clueless to anything. He was slow, did not have a good knowledge of the menu, and was not genuine in his approach to our questions. When he asked us for our drink order we were very specific in what we wanted. I specifically asked him if he had a particular liquor,& I overhead him ask his co-worker about it, and we could tell they had no idea. He then placed the order..? Out of concern I then walked the 10 paces to the bar and found out myself that indeed they did NOT have what I wanted. Low and behold, my drink arrives. The server tried to pawn off a drink as the one that I wanted....Furious. If someone is going to take initiative and ask me to try a drink in place of one that I want, I'm ok with that....However, to pretend to give me what I want, and pretend knowing otherwise angers me. These drinks are $20 bucks a piece, so I am pissed at this point and so is my husband.
Bartender to the rescue...I walk up there a second time and he looks sheepish. He knows already that the drink he made came to me after knowing full well that I did not want what was obviously given to me. He offered to look in the backroom for a replacement and ended up getting me exactly what I wanted from somewhere else.
Food: we had the mini trio of pot pies for appetizer, delicious, came out quick, but a little pricey for what you get. Prime rib entrée also very good, nice cut, well cooked. Caesar salad, simply delicious, homemade dressing with anchovies, yum! Grilled lamb burger on the brioche bun, soooo good, I loved it!
Its so sad that an experience like we had could overshadow really good food. The food is served well, its creative, eye appealing and tastes great. The service is poor, the hostess stand awful, stacked with 2-3 girls who don't use any common sense, and are phony to greet but yet don't even notice as you leave after spending $250. It all left a bad taste in our mouths. This is vegas, and there are so many restaurants to choose from...We will not be back. Well, maybe we will sit at the bar :)
