| - So they changed their hours and are no longer open 24/7 (annoying in a town like Vegas). I like getting up early to try to beat the heat and crowds, but they're always stocking the shelves at 6 am. If you have hours when you're closed, why not pay people to stock shelves while you're closed so the shopping experience isn't annoying as all hell? The worst was in the soda area where the guys stocking were super rude and purposefully stayed put when they saw I was trying to manipulate my cart through their maze to put heavy soda in it. This store used to be the best. Definitely going to Winco from here on out. Really crappy past few experience
Update:
I can officially say I will NEVER revisit this location. About two weeks ago, I stopped in to pick up Shell gift cards. I like buying gas station gift cards with my credit card because I get rewarded for shopping at grocery stores, so buying gas cards at the grocery store gives me rewards for gas on top of groceries. I haven't been able to find Shell cards for a while, so I went ahead and bought the BP oil gift card they had. I know BP once owned ARCO, and there is an ARCO close to my work, so I figured this was fine. As I went to check out, the man working the self checkout, Jon, and another employee were whispering loudly and looking at me. Jon approached me and asked to see my hand as I was scanning my items. I didn't understand what he wanted, so I lifted my hand, and he grabbed it and showed my hand to his buddy, and loudly announced, "Look! She's single!" (Pointing out that I didn't have a wedding ring on.) I was humiliated. This was so inappropriate. I got into my car shaking from being humiliated and outraged at the entire situation. I called the store from the parking lot and was transferred to the "manager" whose response to my ordeal was, "Huh. That doesn't sound like Jon." Now I felt like I was being called a liar when a manager could certainly play back the security camera footage and watch it happen. I ended up calling corporate because this was so outrageous. Corporate was very nice, and the woman I spoke to apologized then informed me that whoever I spoke to was not the actual manager, but that the manager now knew and would certainly take care of it. That was all fine, and preventing it from happening to another customer was all I wanted.
Then! This past Thursday, I went to use my gift card only to find that ARCO doesn't accept BP gift cards. In fact, NO gas station west of Illinois does. Now I was livid. Why would they even sell these if no one can actually use them out here?! I went back. My receipt did say that they don't refund gift cards, but I held out hope hat they would realize how ridiculous tris situation was and would at least let me exchange the card or something. When I went to the customer service counter, the woman working was extremely rude and without an ounce of compassion, regurgitated what I'm sure she says all the time, "You can't return that." I asked her, hoping to at least get a human response, if she agreed that this situation was bull****. She got a manager. The first manager, a woman I spoke to did have compassion and when I explained the past two visits and broke down in tears, she definitely showed some empathy and asked me to wait so she could see if there was anything she could do. A man returned with my card and receipt and told me there was nothing they could do.
Now I'm out $25, which really isn't the end of the world, but in all of these experiences, all I expected was a little understanding or empathy. This Smiths has gone down hill so fast over the past few months. I sincerely hope they figure out how to improve customer service. I hope they make things right by teaching their employees common courtesy and for heavens sake, don't sell products customers can't actually use and or return. Awful awful store.
