| - I would give this "company" 0 stars if I could - I would call it a scam more than anything else. I purchased a Living Social deal for 1000square feet to be cleaned in my grandmother's home. Friday 9-12-14 a gentleman named Matt came out with a helper and he (Matt) was an incredibly loud, know-it-all type, who tried to get her to pay an extra $300 because of how "heavily soiled" her tile was. Now, my grandmother is an immaculately clean woman, her home is impeccable. He kept saying "I don't mean to be rude, but..." followed by a very rude comment about how filthy her floors were. He poured solution (later found out it was acid) on the tile and clapped his hands together, echoing through the entire house, and yelled "Let's get ready to spend some money!!" like a game show host. He then proceeded to tell her that she might as well get the voucher money refunded since he couldn't get it clean without an extra $300. She tried to negotiate and he gave her a "deal" of doing only the kitchen for an extra $120. She felt bullied and trapped and they had already poured ACID on the floor and said she would have to clean it up herself if she didn't pay the extra $300. She didn't know what to do other than have them finish for more money than she could afford. I said I wasn't paying it and they could leave if they wanted. She paid the extra money to the men who were dirty, didn't wear foot protection, and were walking all around the wet floors. They left 40 minutes after they got here and we waited the entire weekend for the floors to look better than they did when AHS arrived. Here it is Monday morning and they don't look any better.
We have since put in a phone call to AHS - No answer. We put in a call to Living Social who stated they have refunded over half of the people who have purchased deals for AHS and have several emails and phone calls unanswered by the "company" trying to get answers as to how they are doing business in such a predatory and manipulative way. They apologized so profusely for doing business with such a scam company and for them taking advantage of my grandmother. They not only refunded my money, but gave me an extra $20 credit for future purchases. They insisted we let them know if we somehow get in to contact with AHS as they would like contact info that actually WORKS. We have also called my grandmother's bank, put a stop payment on the check, and are filling out paperwork to dispute the charge against their merchant license.
Please take heed when purchasing from Groupon/LivingSocial. What sounds like a good deal, may in fact be a scam. I have never had a problem with either website and use them quite a bit, but will definitely be checking out the companies I am interested in on yelp first. I see all of the other reviews deemed "not recommended" and am appalled. They are all accurate, so how can they not be recommended?
