| - So after having a fun day at Yorkdale mall I thought I can relive my childhood by coming to rainforest cafe! I was really excited, but then I realized how much I've actually aged. Service was great, our server Calvin was very attentive and efficient. Food was pretty yummy, my burger was practically the size of my head. But then again it ought to be seeing as it's an extremely overpriced burger. I was looking forward to waffle fries which I loved as a kid, but I didn't see it there anymore, so sadsies =( .
However this resto is more of a 2.5 for two reasons: fire hazard and the thunderstorms. There is a dessert called the volcano which involves waiters running with the dessert lit with sparklers, in a place where children are running around everywhere, yelling VOOOOOLLLLCAAANNNOOOO. Again, they are RUNNING WITH FIRE, with kids running everywhere. I was incredibly scared that a kid would knock over a waiter and I would get a sparkler in my hair. Maybe I'm exaggerating a little, but seriously, I still find it dangerous. Then, I don't know what kind of genius decided to have realistic thunderstorms where lights are dimmed and loud thunder roars and the fake animals go crazy. That's like ASKING for kids to go cray cray. Sure many kids aren't afraid of these things, but there were a few that were, and they cried their little hearts out. I thought this place was supposed to be fun?!Whyyyy rainforest? Whyyyyyy?
However I decided to bump this up to a 3 star for a few reasons.
1) good service
2)The amount of fun my boyfriend and I had discussing how I should write about the fire hazard and thunderstorm in the review.
3) the childhood memories of when I enjoyed this place and got cute plastic cups without worrying about paying the bill.
Overall, if you hate kids, you will hate it here too. If you have kids though, and they aren't afraid of thunder then maybe check it out. Sure there's a fire hazard, but if you or your spouse is a firefighter, then there should be no problem ;)
