  • I was excited to visit this rink. We went with a large group and you are required to pay$8.00 entrance even if you don't skate. Yikes. That seems pretty steep to watch your friends skate. I decided since we had to pay entrance I might as well skate with everyone. Where do I start? This place was disgusting. The first stop I made was the restrooms and they were filthy. Worse than a rest stop filthy. Trash, toilet paper all over the floor with mystery liquids in the stalls making piles of gross mush in the corners. It appeared as though this restroom hadn't been cleaned in weeks. I was afraid to wash my hands the sinks were so dirty. I understand the wrist guard policy. What I don't understand is how dirty and gross the wrist guards were. They were dingy, damp to the touch and grimy feeling. The Velcro barely worked and they provided very little protection since they weren't able to be tightly fastened. The skates were really really old and the laces just about bare. The rink floor was so damaged and had chunks missing. Like pot holes on the road, it was hard to not fall in some areas it was so bumpy. So my kids were starving and we purchased snacks. We ordered and then waited over 30 minutes for the food. Our group was starting to leave and still no food. I went to the counter to ask the kid what was happening and his response "there was a lot of people so I was busy". No sorry, no status on how much longer. At that point I said refund, were done. The only adult in the place came over and asked me what I wanted refunded and I said everything. And he said but didn't you get any part of your order like your drinks? And I said no I did not. He was like ooohhh but still no sorry. He was working the register when the kid came up to say he had burnt our food and that's why it took so long. Nice. Excellent that you kept us updated. After that the adult said a very quiet sorry. I think they have so many problems, that this was just a regular night. I've been to many skating rinks in many cities and this was by far my least favorite. Training for the staff, lots of cleaning and a bit of updating would go along way. New wrist guards, fresh skates and refinishing the skate rink floor would help get this place on track. I know that no one wants to clean bathrooms but there has to be a cleaning schedule put in place and enforced for the staff so that your restroom never gets so bad. Good luck Skateland.
