  • Food: 4/5 Service: 3.5/5 Cleanliness: 4.5/5 Price: 4/5 I've always been a fan of Millie Creperie at Kensington Market in Toronto. It was one of my go to places after class during my undergrad years, and its creative creations were so delicious! I had recently heard that they opened up a new location near my old condo so I made sure I visited it when I was in Toronto for some errands this last weekend! When I got to the patisserie, I was quite surprised because it was very small. It only had 3-4 tables, so if I came at the wrong time, I knew I'd have to eat it elsewhere. There were already many customers at the patisserie when I arrived (~12pm) to my surprise. While patiently waiting in line, I tried to narrow down my choices to just one. Their creamery was to the left of the desserts. I didn't try them on my first visit but I am aiming to try them the next time I'm in town. I'd love to try their Lucky charms (on the very left), Thai tea, and coconut flavours. My initial choice was their crepe cake. I love crepes and cake...what an amazing combination! I decided in the end to try something else because I had tried crepe cakes before at Lady M Cafe in NYC (I should write about it soon...so behind) and I thought the cake here probably tastes similar to it. Since there were many other unique desserts I had never seen before, I passed on the crepe cake. I recommend you to try their green tea crepe cake though! In the end, I opted for their rare black sesame tart because I heard that they were very good and popular. They don't seem to have many in stock, so if you come too late, they might be all gone! The tarts are decorated with some edible gold on top and they were actually cheesetarts. I didn't actually notice it until I sat down and had my first bite. More on this in a second. Overall, there are only 4 types of desserts you can choose from, with different flavours of course. I love that Millie Patisserie decided to stick to their best 4 desserts instead of having a huge variety because they truly seemed to believe in quality over quantity. The flavours were all very similar - green tea, black sesame, red bean, coffee/vanilla... all somewhat general flavours but all the ones that the majority of people like. The prices of their desserts are on the wall mounted TV in the front. I found their drinks menu somewhat disappointing because they didn't have very many to choose from. They only had iced lattes and hot tea (no iced available). My black sesame tart was so rich in flavour...it was as if I was having raw black sesame! Then again, there are black sesame seeds on the tart aren't there...haha. But really, with the soft cheese, the black sesame flavour was very delicious and I could see why it was so popular on social media! I ordered peppermint tea along with my dessert and I found the two went well together in terms of flavour. I had some difficulty finishing the very last bites of the tart but nonetheless I ended up finishing it proudly. The rich flavours of the tart can be a little overwhelming towards the end. If you're near the Entertainment / Fashion districts of Downtown Toronto, I highly recommend that you try Millie Patisserie & Creamery! It's very high quality and its deliciousness will get you hooked for sure! I know I will be going back there once I'm in Toronto again. The patisserie can be a little difficult to find; it's in between King & Adelaide streets on Charlotte St.
