Walking in the restaurant, my guest and I pleasantly large eating area with high ceilings. We arrived during happy hour at the bar and everyone in that area was watching some sports TV and having fun there. We escorted ourselves to our booth and within a few moments a pleasant smiling server came and gave us a menu and asked us if we'd like something to drink. She made our first experience here pleasant. Having worked in restaurants in the Big Easy and living there I tried not to be so critical as it would be unrealistic since I have no local eateries to compare this one to. Ordered the appetizer of wings and crab cake. Wings had some Sweet Asian glaze on them. Although not bad, I would have preferred sauce on side, or some sort of buffalo wing sauce. Crab cake was fishy tasting which a crab cake shouldn't be and it was about the size of a silver dollar. Moving on, we had the pasta dish and it was poorly cooked and disappointing. Vegetables were presented more like a garnish and instead of some type of lite wine sauce, it tasted like warm wine with the alcohol content still strong. Bottom line, this place should be a gem and everything on the menu great and well executed. It isn't happening here. Mgmt. and the kitchen needs to be more passionate about the integrity of all the dishes. The menu is not that overwhelming with choices and should probably should be revamped and reinvigorated. I was afraid to try the regional N.O. dishes for they couldn't even get the appetizers correct.Did register our feelings to the MOD and were listened to and given a coupon to return within the month. I would go back because the ambiance is nice, the service is good, it's just that whoever is cooking the food should care more. They should let me run this kitchen and cook this food. I am an expert at Southern Regional cuisine.
