  • Shoes...glorious shoes...aaaaah Came here with my best shopping buddy Sarah H.(not a Yelper yet, but I'm workin on her) to drool at the shoe candy and bags that teasingly line the glass facaded storefront on the perfectly iconic corner of Bay and Bloor. Shoes and bags from the likes of all the heavy hitters like Valentino, Jimmy Choo, Salvatore Ferragamo and Sergio Rossi and the much ballyhoo'd Christian Louboutin are here in all their glory to break your heart and you or your sugar daddy's bank account. The store is the closest thing us Torontonians have to a Fifth Avenue style shoe department and it's pretty fab, save for the creeper shoe gigalos/sales help. Maybe this kind of service is good for Aunt Edna and Gramma Bernice and the proper old dames that are Chanel-ed to the hilt, but when trying footwear on, I prefer to put the shoes on by myself and not have some old "paisano" try and fit me Cinderella style into some Louboutins...besides since when did Prince Charming look like "Vinnie the Plumber" with a 3 piece suit? I guess there's more moula to be made in upscale shoe sales than waste disposal services...I digress..... Upstairs is the much more concise men's department where I spy a brilliant pair of Paul Smith brogues that I suspect would look perfectly dapper on my hubby. Grrrrr how is it that men's shoes which obviously use more materials than women's cost so much less...it's a travesty!!! As much as Sarah and myself love shoes, we find the selection is a little more glamorous/goodgirl ladies who lunch conservative style with cutesy bows, and less our flavor of rockin' fetishistic and ball-stomping bad girl stilettos. David's carries gorgeous products no doubt...but for what it's worth it's a bit of sticker shock and beyond the reach of most mere mortals so it may be best to wait for the seasonal sales for designer shoes within reach. If you enjoy shopping for uber high $$$ end shoes with full frontal service than David's is a good fit for you.
