  • I am sure this place is a different animal during the summer on weekends when the patio is open and live music is playing but on a Friday at 3pm when it's quite chilly outside this place is a rather boring spot with folks working on their laptops and not socializing. It was quite dead when we arrived and I guess we looked as if we didn't belong there because you could have cut the tension with a knife. No, Cheers bar style, "Welcome" just dead stares from the bar area. The staff at the food order station was very pleasant and hospitable. We ordered and headed to the bar with our order number flag. The bartender said their lines were frozen on all the ciders so that put a damper on my daughter's drink order. She's not much on beer! I, on the other hand, am a craft beer aficionado! I love craft beer, not all but I do love trying out new beers on flights, as well as trying different flavors of my favorite styles of craft beers such as, Wits and IPAs. With that being said, I tried (if you call 34oz try) Sycamore Blush Wit and I absolutely loved it! This Wit presented in a pretty pink hue and the flavor had a citrusy grapefruit tone. It was delicious and I have sought out the maker so I can drink it more often. Please understand VGBG is not a brewery, it is a bar that has event rooms for rent and a patio and lawn area with games. The food here is pretty good! I ordered the Breakfast Sammie and my daughter ordered the Totchos with the Beer cheese, jalapeños and the Fire Sauce only. The totchos were good but I would have gotten them loaded the way the menu presents but my daughter is a picky eater! My Sammie was awesome! This jewel has a fried egg, bacon, tomato and cheddar cheese layered and melted on a pretzel bun. All I can say is YUMMY! We ordered a pretzel and fries to go! The same food staff brought the to go order to us when it was ready and was still just as pleasant! I wish VGBG sold growlers but again this is not a brewery. I may give it another try next summer to see if the atmosphere is any more welcoming. A quick shoutout "Welcome" goes a long way!
