| - I'm not crazy about this Holt's outlet, although there are a few good deals if you look really hard. It's just disappointing when you compare it to similar places in the US like Off 5th (Saks), Nordstrom Rack, Barney's outlet, etc. It's funny, because if you come to Vaughan Mills on a busy weekend, there are huge crowds in ALL the stores, but this one (at least on my last visit) had relatively few shoppers. Perhaps it's because, even at "up to 60% off", a lot of the stuff here is still really expensive for most people.
The store is huge and warehouse like. Things are nice and spaced out (which is good because everyone at Vaughan Mills seems to have a really big stroller). The selection was not great. I think I've had better luck with "The Runway" section at most Winners. The accessories section in particular is kind of lame. Just a few bags and sunglasses and jewelery behind this counter, so you can't even check stuff out up close without asking the salesperson (who will then watch you like a hawk). They had a few Burberry bags, Kate Spade small leather goods, and some not very exciting costume jewelery. The shoes at the back were also a disappointment. Not very many styles. For clothes, it's a bit better. They have some "additional 80%" off racks, but most of the clothes there were showing signs of wear -- pilling, etc. Turn off! And some of the styles... lets just say it's easy to understand why nobody wanted them (e.g. really weird/unflattering fits that few can pull off). They weren't kidding when they said LAST call...
The lingerie section is actually half decent though. Some cute things by D&G, Princess Tam Tam, Cosabella, La Perla, Elle Macphearson, etc. I ended up spending some time sifting through the denim. They had a fairly large section devoted to jeans, however, it was mostly 4 or 5 styles and just several racks of the same thing. I did find a nice pair of indigo wash skinny bootcut jeans by 7 for All Mankind for $79 (about half off the regular price).
The change rooms have all these intense signs about how it is a CRIME to try and switch the pricetags and that they will punish anyone who breaks the law...
Worth a look if you are in the mall anyways, but I wouldn't make a special trip to go here.
