Haven't been to Dotty's in a long time, but not anymore! I don't usually give 5's as perfection is needed, but I'm giving one here, it is just that good.
Love the comfortable wooden booths, and the music is just at the right volume; you can hear it and also talk over it. Who wants a place where the music is so intrusive that you can't hear what you dinner companion is saying. There are always 24 beers on tap, many of them microbrews.
You can build your own burgers or pick a burger designed by Dottie's. I chose The Bayou as I love Cajun food. The wife picked The Melting Pot, as she loves cheese and lots of it. Both of us loved our burgers. The one downside was the bun, very good except wasn't quite up to the juicy meat and sort of disinigrated by the last couple of bites. But no matter as plenty of napkins were available.
The regular size basket of fries were more than adequate for the two of us and they were cooked perfectly.
In no way can anyone put these burgers in the same league as "5 Guys", they are far and away superior. The care in cooking, very nice seating and music, everything was totally superior to "that other place" which I made the mistake of going to a few weeks ago.
Dottie's is in the upper echelon of burger places in Southern Wisconsin. I can see why year after year it wins "Best of Madison". Wow! This is THE place for a good burger folks.
