So we decided to stay at the San Carlos Hotel for the Rhianna concert on May 1st. We thought this will be a cool experience to stay at such a classic hotel while we are downtown. Of course the rooms were small, it was built in 1928 but that wasn't the problem. The room was 169 a night. For this you get a tiny room with a tiny bed. I probably wouldn't have minded but the website boasted about a heated pool on the rooftop. The pool was ice cold. We asked why and they said the heater was simply off and they would turn it on. Well that would take day so so much for that!! Why would it even be off? Then the water machine was broken. They had water bottles in the room for 2.50 a bottle. You should not have to pay that but you had no other option. Taking a shower was the biggest joy. The water burns you every three minutes as it heats up to scolding levels for a minute and then gives back to normal . This is because of how old the hotel is. Apparently there is warning but it is faded on the 2 all and you can't read it. Thanks for the clear warning!!! So when we checked out the room came to 200 a night with tax and that did not include the 20 dollars it cost to valet your car out front. I told the lady at the desk my complaints and that they were charging way too much for this room. She should only charge me like a $100. She was not willing to give us a discount at all and just sat there and gave me dirty looks from behind the counter and was really pretty rude. She would not give us a discount. Very rude!!! She took 20 off for valet. Don't ever stay there. Way too expensive for what you get and not worth it !!
