| - I could write a novel on how terrible my experience was living here, but I will do my best to keep it brief. First, I was shown a "premium" unit and was told my unit would have all the same finishings. On move in day (after signing the lease) I walked into the unit to find that it was only partially renovated. Because I had already signed the lease, nothing could be done. Every single day starting on the day I moved in until the day I moved out, my apartment would randomly smell like sewage at least 5 times a day and would last for about 30 minutes each time. Called maintenance to address the issue 4 times. Same guy came to look at it every time, and on his 4th visit told me that he had no sense of smell so couldn't tell if there was ever a problem or not. Homeless people regularly bathed in the pool, slept in the laundry room, and dug through the dumpsters. No security guards to tell them to leave. Black mold on the baseboards in the bathroom was painted over rather than removed because there "weren't any spare baseboards in the maintenance storage room". Cockroaches all over the complex, although primarily outside. Cherry on top was the RAT that I found inside of my apartment at 4:30 a.m. The leasing agent confirmed the following day that there had been a rat infestation in the building a few months prior. I gave management a 5 day notice to eliminate the rat infestation and, by AZ State Law, the are required to address vermin infestations within this time frame or else the tenant (me, in this case) has every legal right to break the lease without any monetary penalties. All they did was look around the unit and put a rat trap under the sink. Even so, I was forced to give 2 months notice and continue paying rent for those 2 months. I found rat feces in multiple spots throughout the unit over the course of those months. Despite the fact that they legally have to let me out of my lease given proof of rats on multiple occasions, they have referred me to a collections agency to pay a $1,300 early lease termination fee. Point being: living here is a nightmare that I would not wish on my worst enemy. Do not move here.
