| - Thank you to Yelp for leading me to Welcome Diner! I drove out here after work on a Friday, by myself, and knew as soon as I could see it that this place was a gem. It's tucked in a neighborhood, with a red and white trailer, neon lights, and string lights over wooden tables. It's so perfect that I wish I thought of it myself.
You order at a little window and can see three guys all crammed inside, cooking up amazing food. They had happy hour specials while I was there, and I got a local draft beer that was delicious. After much debate, I settled on the North Carolina pulled pork biscuit and a special side salad with a shallot vinaigrette (although it was hard not to order skinny fries and Brussels too!). I was worried it would be packed, but there were just enough people to comfortably eavesdrop and still have some elbow-room.
The food was amazing. You can tell everything is made in small batches, with love and attention to detail. Someone came out and checked on me while I was eating, offered to grab me another drink, and whisked away my dishes as soon as I was finished. Overall, it was a perfect dining experience, and I only wish I could pick this place up and plant it down on the East Coast!
