Have you ever attended a yoga class that left you with the feeling of a whole new body? Invigorating, right? What if I told you that there is a class on Sunday mornings at a beautiful yoga studio on the west side of Cleveland that might, indeed, leave you with a whole new lease on life?
I visited Tammy Lyons' hot yoga class one Sunday morning. I walked in feeling tight, groggy, and grievous as I was in town for a funeral. I left with ten less dollars (spare change compared to other studios' charge) and a renewed outlook on my life and my place in this construction zone of a world.
If you haven't tried yoga before, this class is not for the faint of heart. There were pregnant ladies practically showing me the exit door, they were so flexible and svelt. But the class is not intimidating at the same time because Tammy's instruction is very calm and meditative. You do what you can, even if you can't manage all the inversions (e.g. handstands and otherwise). The heat didn't really bother me because it got progressively warmer, but not unbearable. It's definitely worth a try if you haven't considered this approach to yoga before.
The studio itself is very clean and inviting. Lots of natural light and plenty of room for coats and shoes outside the studio. I didn't bring my own mat and there were heaps of them for borrowing (for free), which was another nice perk.
