| - I really want to give this place more stars but unfortunately I got a little sick after eating their food.
I ordered the Cubano pressed pastry for lunch which consisted of a thick slice of ham, pulled pork, pickle slices, melted Swiss-cheese, and whole grain mustard between two rectangular pieces of pastry crust. I think the issue with the 'sandwich' was the pastry crust. With all of the pork on the plate, it was hard to stomach the buttery/larded pastry dough and I believe the high fat content is what led me to throw up my meal. During the meal, I stopped eating the pastry dough and ate the inside. The meats were well seasoned and tasty. The cheese was nice and nutty. The pickles were lightly acidic. The mustard.... personally I wasn't a fan and felt that there was too much on the plate. Ultimately, it all came down to the pastry dough. I'm not sure the full range of the bakery, but it could be nice to consider baking loaves of bread for these heavier sandwiches (at least as an option for those who cannot stomach high fat content). And yes, it ultimately was my decision to order the Cubano, knowing full and well what the ingredients were but I've seen such nice reviews for their pressed pastry sandwiches that I felt it necessary to try it!
Anyway, I will need some time before I go back there. Maybe I'll just stick with their cupcakes as they looked delicious!
