| - Checked in last week for an after holiday dinner. As in, now that the holidays are over, we actually have time to spend with each other. We had the beef sugo, with the gnudi, and the the monkfish special. I had been expecting a red sauce, and was a little disappointed until I tasted my entree. Delicious and savory. A red sauce would have distracted from the flavors. My fault that I didn't know exactly what I was getting. The monkfish with fennel and butternut squash was nothing short of amazing.
Again, a nice place to bring a bottle and have a quiet evening. Again, some of the younger front of house staff seem to be new at what they are doing. It may be picky, but I dislike having servers refer to a table as 'guys.' If you're waiting on the Penguins, I think you can get away with 'guys.' Otherwise, it's not really appropriate to the setting.
I was tempted to stay for dessert, but decided to check out the scotch list across the street at The Map Room. So, that's a nice option to consider, and part of what makes the Regent Square business area something special. Cibo is an important part of the neighborhood.
