Using a Home depot contractor is turning into a nightmare. I purchased a new toilet at the near by Home Depot and paid for the Home Depot plumber to install it. We made an appointment and they came out and said that since I had carpet they would NOT install it until the was removed and the bathroom had been tiled! They say that they don't want to be responsible if their install leaks! Apparently they don't have any confidence in their abilities so why should I or Home Depot?! The tile with which I must blend anything new is 30+ years old. Now it will cost me a great deal more to meet their demands or pay thousands for a complete master bath remodel (all for a new toilet). I am at the point of returning the toilet, getting all my money back including prepaid installation and removal of the old toilet and just living with the problems. I will call other plumbers and see if they have more confidence in their abilities. I may use Home Depot, but I will never use one of their contractors!!!!! Found a 5 star plumber that is willing to do the install for only a few dollars more---and a lot less than a remodel/tiles. Their only issue is the possible "foot print" difference between the toilets. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it, if I come to it.
