Our wedding is coming up next year and I wanted to get a head start on getting that perfect bridal body. I have always been intrigued with barre classes so I browsed Groupon and sent my Maid of Honor a screenshot of thebodybar(re). She was intrigued as well so we purchased our five class pass and eagerly awaited our first class.
We arrived early to fill out paperwork, purchase grip socks, and browse the setup for the 5:45p (re)shape Classic MIXT barre class. Sarah was very welcoming from the get-go and set us up with our own stations. We put our socks on and were extremely excited for the unknown. Sarah led us through the workout with modern music mixes, and I LOVE that she was our instructor. She did the workout with the class and made sure to give each of us individual attention if needed. The smallest of movements worked my muscles and we definitely felt the burn. I really appreciated the stretching session at the end of class and there were even candles - so serene!
Here I am, the very next day, SORE! And I love it! Barre is definitely fun, but challenging, and I love that anything can be tailored to your fitness level. I have no similar dance background, but I sure felt like a ballerina while having a good time!
Random tips for newcomers:
There are small cubbies in the back to hold your belongings.
Socks are required on the carpet for classes.
Wear pants that are over the knees - no shorts!
Bring water, there are cardio bursts during the workouts.
Also, if you register online for a class and attend them then you earn points over time that will give you discounts on retail (their cute Lululemon).
