  • West Elm is the place to go for modern or trendy furniture and home goods. They're priced higher than Ikea, but lower than Crate & Barrel, and around the same as CB2. I've been here many times over the past few years. Their sale/clearance section is decent - you'll usually find dinner/kitchenware, seasonal items, small home decor bits, pillowcases, and bedding here. Floor models will also be found here that have experienced some wear and tear (often sold as is so caveat emptor, examine the items carefully if they interest you). The quality of their items varies, I ain't gonna lie. I have a desk bought several years ago (now discontinued) that has a wood veneer finish and lets just say it hasn't lasted well and I'm in the market now for a new desk. I'd recommend looking for something built of solid wood (costs more, yes, but it tends to last longer). They have attentive service - I've often been greeted and asked if I need assistance as I enter. They often have sales and specials going on (25% off bed furniture, 15% off sofas, etc) so it might be a good idea to sign up for their emails if you end up liking what they offer.
