Wow. We are speechless. Didn't expect such beauty and awesomeness at all. We wanted to go out of the strip, get the kids away from all the bling and casino and researched this place. There's a top attraction in LV called Red Rock? Had no idea. Wasn't too far away, so drove there leisurely and got excited when we spotted the sign. However it wasn't until you actually drive in can you see the red.
We used the restrooms at the visitor center bc I heard there wasn't any on the 13 mile drive around. Inside the center you can peek at the canyon and it's pretty cool. Fun gift shop in there too.
We were able yo use our national park pass to get in so didn't have to pay the $7/car fee. Extra plus :)
We only had time to stop at stops 1&2 but wow it's incredible. Cooler as you go down nearer to the rocks. Pictures don't do justice. My kids had more fun here than Yosemite and Grand Canyon lol. They were able to climb and explore to their hearts content. They climbed so much that Stop #2 we just looked. It gets hot in the summer but would have loved to see the stop where there was a waterfall in the spring. However we had time enough for stop 1 and it was well worth it. Beautiful. Great rock pics for selfie. Some scarier than others but still not too dangerous.
Wear good shoes bc the ground is slippery with the dust and rocks. Saw many slide down, trip and got hurt. But go down and climb. Highly recommend a stop here. We had no idea it was so much fun.
The drive is curvy and wished we could exit before all the stops but only way back out to the highway is all the way around. Somehow we had no cellular service way out there too so be ready for that. Pack supplies, water, food etc if you are biking n hiking. Lots of that available here. Saw lots of little creatures crossing the road so drive carefully but it's twisty and nicely paved road unlike White Sands tractioned roads.
Really loved it here. Best in cooler weather but still gorgeous.
