| - This was a stunningly bad, no-good, dreadful experience. (Note: while the signage still says "Danny's," it is apparently now "Jackson's" due to Danny's legal troubles). I have no problem with the car wash itself. A wash (the Works) is a wash, and it was fine. However, I had them fill my car with gas (they do it themselves if you're then going to get a wash). They asked what I wanted: regular unleaded. I noticed that is what went in the tank, at $2.50 per gallon. I paid for my gas and my wash. While waiting for my car, I noticed that they had charged me the premium price for gas ($2.82). A few clicks on my calculator and I concluded that at 15.06 gallons, that made a $4.94 difference. I actually thought about not saying anything because I was in a hurry and it wasn't that big a deal. But, you know, five bucks is five bucks. So when my car was finished, I showed the very young "supervisor" my receipt. He told me to pull my car into a different area and he'd get it taken care of. After at least ten minutes, he comes out, and says, "there's no difference. The total cost of your gas would be the same whether it was the premium price or the regular price." Huh? I walked through my higher mathematics on my calculator, and showed that they charged me $42.48 and it should have been $37.54. He said, "hang on, I'll go back and talk to the manager." Another 10+ minutes went by. He comes out and says he has "good news! The manager is giving me a free express wash on my next visit, a $5.00 value!" He was stunned when I said I wanted money, not a car wash. He said they were trying to be nice to me. I said, I want a refund, which is what I had requested over 25 minutes ago, since I had been overcharged. I then asked to see the manager. The manager then came lumbering out of some dark room...no greeting, no apology, nothing. I was getting angrier by the second. I asked him why it was so hard to issue a refund when they had overcharged me. He said, "we thought you'd rather have a free wash." I explained, yet again, that my original request was for a refund, and I didn't understand the run-around. Again, no apology--not even any coherent explanation. FINALLY, I was able to get my miserable $4.94 credited back to me.
I have to believe that they knew exactly what they were doing. The guy at the pump circled the 91 octane knowing that's not what went in. The cashier (with whom I have no problem), then processed it. Had I not seen it, they would've made an extra $5. Had I not pressed so hard for my lousy five dollars and taken their initial explanation, or the ridiculous offer of a free "express" wash, they would've made an extra $5. Perhaps worst of all, they let the young "supervisor" (I estimate he was about 16) do their dirty work. I wonder how many other people have been victimized by their operations who don't realize it, or let the Jacksons folks bully them into accepting less than they're entitled to. I will not be back, obviously. I encourage others to stay away as well.
