I have always loved the Hawaii culture and food. Getting to know a lot of the vendors personally was so much fun. Many of the people are the same people that work year in and year out. I was able to help volunteer and spend time with many of them. Shawn and Moi are super to work with and listen to any concerns. Not being negative to Hawaii many of the vendors and their children quickly excepted me and my family as their family. Learning the different dances, food ,and cultures that are involved with the Hawaiian life was so much fun.
Many years I have come just to eat and go to the carnival this time I got to spend quality time with the amazing people that work so hard to make this event as great as it is.
If you've never been there before it is so worth going to try a little bit of everything and don't be afraid. I've never been a fan of spam and let's just say I had my belly full of it. Place called two scoops was so good and their children ran a booth across the way from them I have so much respect to see how well behaved and business oriented those children were. Many booths are family and they all work together as a small business and to support that meant more to me than to go to some mall.
By the end of the weekend I had more kisses from the little Hawaiian babies and was called auntie and has been invited to future events with many of them.
If you ever get the chance to go personally speak to some of the people that work there they fly in from all over each year to be part of this wonderful event it's so cool to see how many of them are truly wonderful and amazing people.
The security team are not only helpful but amazing on making sure everyone felt safe
