| - My 18 month old has had a history of lower respiratory infections, trouble breathing and low weight. We had to go to the ER twice in 2 months for the same issues, once in February 2014 and in April. Our third visit, which was for the past week, we had to take her in for the same symptoms. The last time we were there, they tested her for Cystic Fibrosis. So, as far as we knew, the test was negative. When we came in this time, one nurse confirmed that it was, and the following day, the doctor came in and said that they couldn't find the results and we're still waiting on them. What the???? First off, nurses aren't supposed to give out test or lab results to parents, and how do you go around opening your mouth about a life - altering disease without even knowing what you're talking about??!! Also, because my daughter was on oxygen due to her level getting too low, all the nurses seemed to have their own opinion on the matter. The only reason we were there so long was because she needed the oxygen while she was sleeping. One nurse would say a certain percentage was okay, and another would say something completely different. There was no consistency. I talked to the Nurse Manager, who said it's a lot of "nursing judgement". I'm sorry, but did you go to school to become a judge or to follow written rules and procedures that have been tested and proved? Or do you just make your own rules up as you please? The doctor came in around 12:30 pm and told us we'd be discharged, and we didn't get out of there until 4 pm! Since when does it take 3 1/2 hours to be discharged??!! When I asked our nurse for an update, he didn't didn't even freaking know we were going to be discharged! It just seems like there is a lot of miscommunication, misinformation and inconsistencies going on there. Next time I will take my children to another hospital.
