| - I came to Bowties Bridal Outlet after going to Davids Bridal in search for my wedding dress. I found a few at Davids Bridal but I wasn't in love with anything in particular plus I'd have to order it and wait for weeks. I was searching for something romantic that would complement my body. I am 5'5" & wear size 4, so every dress I tried on at other stores was way too long, and way too big. BTW, Bridal sizes run large! At Bowties, you search for dresses that are sold as is, in my case this was perfect. Not only did I find a gown that fit my size but also within my price range. And you get to take it home that day! All of the dresses were former floor models or past season dresses. I made an appointment & had a few family members for support & opinions. It was fun to search through the dresses and try on different styles I would have never thought to try. I had Kathy help me last late November to help, she was very nice & patient. I know this review is late but I was engaged last October 2015 and found my dress in November, then just got married this October 2016. And the dress fit perfectly, I only had to get the hem taken in because I am short & I wore 4 inch heels and the dress was still too long... I had an american & french bustle added to it from my seamstress in CA.
So the dress I decided on was by David Tutera for Mon Cheri Fall 2015 Style #215267. It was a beautiful strapless wedding dress, tulle and hand-beaded re-embroidered and three-dimensional lace over satin slim A-line cage dress. With a sweetheart neckline, beaded lace bodice, satin slim underskirt with sweep train, tulle and lace appliquéd cage overskirt with scalloped hem, and a chapel length train.
Advice when choosing your dress, think about a veil to match or have one made and accessories you would like to wear. I made my own veil and saved a lot of money and the tulle matched perfectly. Also, think about what type of bustle you would like, depends on the material of the dress as well. Plan ahead bc alterations can take 2-4 weeks! Make sure you have a good seamstress!!! I went to 3 different alteration companies and 2/3 wanted to cut the appliqués out and sew them back on! CRAZY, I told them no thanks and took my dress somewhere else. The correct way was with my 3rd seamstress, she took off each appliqué by hand, hemmed the dress, and moved them up to their current position and hand sewn them in place. This is very time consuming but it was done correctly. And it looks exactly how it was when I bought it! Happy Shopping Brides to be!!
