I was hesitant to book at a place with a resort fee but it came in handy as we used some of the coupons, the internet, printed my boarding pass, etc. Sometimes you can't avoid it if you're getting a decent deal in a decent location.
For those who say this place needs work...not so much, in fact the people I talked with at the pool agreed with me, they were all satisfied staying here.
As for the pool, it is on the small side for such a large hotel...Saturday we stepped out there at noon and it was beyond packed - mostly with people reserving their chairs with towels and in the pool. There is a DJ at the pool that starts around noon-ish. We got an earlier start on Sunday and it wasn't so packed just because people tend to go home that day. The DJ played a variety of music, I didn't even need my ipod out there.
The location is great - you can walk or take the tram over to the Mirage for free, it's right across the street from The Venentian.
My favorite party bar "Kahunaville" is inside and I must say the smell in the hotel walking in is pretty nice too...
