  • I am not a runner by any stretch of the word. I have never enjoyed running, was never fast, and really have never felt the endorphins kick in from running that I so frequently hear about. I don't even enjoy working out. I'm your basic couch potato. However, age has not been a good friend to me, and upon the recommendation of a like-minded friend, I began using an app to turn me into a runner. 3 months later, I finally can run 5K, and I actually don't mind going for a run a few times a week. However, my shoes left something to be desired. Let's just say, they had been sitting in my closet for more than 5 years when I started running. After 3 months, it was obvious these shoes were doing me more harm than good. My feet ached and I was getting huge blisters. I was a little intimidated to enter into a runner's den, but went on the recommendation of a friend who assured me they wouldn't laugh me out of the store. Mikena helped me, and she was great! She educated me on my stride and brought out several pairs for me to test out. Being a running moron (and running in laughable shoes anyway), I didn't have a clue what I wanted or liked...they all seemed fine to me. However, she was able to ask the right questions to make me think about the right things to find the right shoe. I think I have found the right pair (Brooks Ghost 5) as I have run twice in them, and I have yet to experience any kind of foot pain at all. In fact, I shaved a minute off my time (Gotta be the shoes!)! As far as cost comparison, I am fairly certain I paid the same for the shoes as I would have if I'd bought online. I would highly recommend this store to anyone, regardless of age or condition. They will treat you right and help you find shoes so you will actually want to run.
