| - My friends and I walked to Kensington Market after lunch to visit this little Japanese convenience store on Easter Sunday. I didn't know if they were going to be open and I couldn't find the hours anywhere. The website was "coming soon," so I messaged them on Instagram to confirm and they replied almost immediately!
Albeit the small storefront, it was very easy to spot. The shop is small and the entrance is quite narrow, so you'll have to yield to those making their way out.
The back wall is where the ready to eat foods are. Choose from a selection of onigiri, bento boxes, milk pudding, drinks, matcha cereal, etc. There is a small selection of cute stationary and cartoon socks. They made a note that there will be more in stock next week, if that's what you're looking for. To my surprise, there was also a large variety of face masks as well. Along the side wall, you will find packaged snacks in an array of flavours (chips, crackers, ramen, etc.).
At the front by the cashier is where all the fresh food is prepped (cheese tarts, taiyaki etc.). The taiyaki was so tempting and I really wanted to try it but I was so full from my lunch already! I knew it wouldn't taste good if I saved it for later so I didn't bother.
Again, the store is small and while I came here because of the idea of a Japanese convenience store, I actually preferred the store next door more in terms of the variety of Japanese imported snacks.
