| - My husband and I had a bad experience with Mission Eye Care. About two years ago, we went to them for optometry exams and to buy new glasses. My husband was referred to a specialist, but we both got new prescriptions for glasses. The visits were expensive, and the glasses were exorbitant, but we had little choice as they are local to us and we don't have a car. So we paid.
My husband took time out of his schedule to visit the specialist, but the result was that nothing was ever wrong and the visit was pointless -- can you say kickback?
When our glasses came in, the optician who fitted our frames and took measurements pertaining to the zones for our progressive lenses (the most expensive lenses, by the way) was rude and pushy. We both found her brusque and aggressive. But we got through our fitting and went home with our glasses.
Almost immediately, we were dissatisfied with the lenses. We'd been told that we'd have to get used to the progressive lenses, so we tried to deal with it. Time passed, we were still dissatisfied and my husband went back to try to change his lenses. We were told the warranty was over -- sorry!
Stuck, my husband went back to old glasses, and I struggled with ongoing eye strain and blurry vision. When our insurance allowed, we went to a different optometrist for exams. Turns out, the upsold prescriptions we were given were about 180 degrees removed from what we should have had.
We were totally cheated by Mission Eye Care and do not recommend them whatsoever.
